I'm Eric Fox - part of the Prudential Fox & Roach team based in the historic Rittenhouse Hotel.

I know we've all seen the headlines over the past year regarding the economic and foreclosure crisis...I am here to clear up any misconceptions about our marketplace and to assist you with all of your questions and concerns. 

Everyone knows that markets rise and fall... Generally speaking, in 2009, the Philadelphia real estate market has fallen a bit but not necessarily across all price ranges and all areas.  To be honest, Philadelphia has trended much better than many other major cities. So far, 2010 has been very good to the Philadelphia marketplace. 

One motivating factor for buyers during the first few months of 2010 was the fact that interest rates were extremely low at approximately 5.00%.   A second factor was President Obama's first time home buyer tax credit ($8000 tax credit for first time home buyers) and the $6500 credit for repeat buyers.  Both absolutely motivated several buyers to jump into the real estate market keeping inventory moving.  These two factors, compounded by reasonably good news coming from the financial sectors and government reports hopefully will result in a further increase in residential real estate activity through the rest of 2010.
